Funny? I Think Not. Hee Hee

Monday, Matt started his new job.  This makes it his fourth new job in as many years.  It has become a little joke within our family.  "Yah, if Matt can actually make it a year, I'll buy him dinner."  "Well, we'll see how long he lasts.  Care to wager?"  Anyway, I digress.  So Matt started his new job.  On his lunch break, I needed him to run some errands for me (That is one of the good things about Matt working up in Provo, I don't have to run up for every little thing).  As he returns he parks in a parking lot next to his building and resumes his duties.  Matt needed to grab some change out of his car for a drink and to his amazement, his car is GONE!!  Immediately he starts to panic thinking that it had been stolen.  An old, clunky, car with no air conditioning and over 200,000 miles stolen?  Unlikely.  So he heads back into work and asks the receptionist if cars get towed who park in that lot.  With a resounding yes, she gives Matt the number of the towing company.
As he dials his phone, his fingers are shaking and he begins to sweat.  The conversation begins.
"H-hi H-honey.  How is work today?"
"Fine, what is going on?  You are acting weird.  Oh, by the way, how is your first day going?"
Matt laughs nervously "Funny you should ask.  I, uh um, well, I mean to say my car err ugh got towed."  He winces as he waits for my reaction.
"What!?!  Why?  How?  Son of a *@%!$ How much is it going to cost?"
"Um . . . $160"
"OK, how are you going to get there?"
So poor Matt has to call one of his friends from his old job to take him to get his car.  I realize that all my fun plans for the weekend are now shot.  Later that day, Matt calls and tries to smooth it over.  "Don't worry honey, one day we will look back on this and laugh."  "I doubt that, but what can we do?"  But he was right.  As I think back now, it is HILARIOUS!!  His first day at a new job, he parks in the wrong place, gets towed, has to call is OLD job to get some help.  Come on, you gotta see the irony in that.  Love you sweetheart.

I'm glad you can laugh at it now. Those curve balls will get ya' if you don't watch out. Without a sense of humor, it would be hard to make it through life sometimes.

I bet you don't make that same mistake Mat. Why did you start a new job? again? do they pay you more? Well good luck on this one.

Ouch! No good. I hate those mistakes that cost you money that you didn't have! I think of all the things I couldn't have had with that money in the first place.

The hard knocks of life are just not a bit fun. I still remember the last hard knock we had with the car seat. I certainly learned my lesson from that. Life is certainly interesting.
