Fall of Festivities #5

Saturday the men went up the mountain gathering cows, so the women decided to have some fun at Trafalga.  After a little shopping, we stopped and had lunch at Mimi's Cafe and let me tell you, they give you a TON of food.


Bailee was so excited to go mini golfing:

She wasn't that bad either, once she figured out how to swing the putter.


After a round of golf, we decided to take a trip down a Haunted Mine:

Bailee SCREAMED the entire time.  As we were walking out she said in a disgusted voice, "I don't like that old ghost he was SO bossy."  We gave Bailee a few tokens to play some games.  He really liked the skee ball.  While we were waiting for our Haunted Mine Ride she found a game that does jumping jacks of some sort:

Then we headed for home.  Mom was headed to the General Relief Society Meeting and Matt and I were meeting Josh and his girlfriend at Chilis.

Yesterday marked the first day of fall . . . . FINALLY!  I have been celebrating and waiting for the cooler temperatures.  One thing we are going to do this fall is go trick or treating inside Disneyland!!  I'm totally excited.  I even made some cute shirts, see:

I showed it to Matt and he said that he wanted one too!!  So everyone will be wearing them when we go to California.  I can't wait!!!  I LOVE the fall!!!

A Blast From The Past

I've been gearing up for some fun Halloween festivities.  One day while I was perusing the Internet, I came across a couple movies I saw as a child.  I just couldn't resist.  I had to have them.  They may have been "unofficial" copies.  But I was so excited I clicked the buy button, and I got them in the mail yesterday!!!!  I popped the first one in the DVD player and I was magically transformed back to my childhood laying on the floor in my parent's family room with my feet kicked up in the air.  IT WAS AWESOME!!  I love nostalgia.  What were the movies you ask?  Only the creepiest, coolest Halloween movies of all time:

Matt and I would be watching certain scenes and we would talk about the first time we both watched these and how they were super creepy!!  My dad even had me convinced that Mr. Boogedy lived behind our laundry room.
It was great and I am so excited that I am able to share some of my nostalgia childhood with my own children.  Thank you, Mr. Boogedy, Thank you!

Fall of Festivities #4

Saturday was a full, fun-filled day.  Matt and I got up EARLY and made it to the first session of the temple.  On our drive back we saw this:

It got me in the mood to do something fallish.  So when we got home I told mom she was making Pizza and we were going to go see "The Sorcerer's Apprentice."  Mom didn't disappoint:

After dinner we headed to the theater.


The movie was great.  The kids even enjoyed it (as long as they had plenty of candy to munch on).
When we got home from the movie I pulled out a special treat mom and I made earlier:

Chocolate covered marshmallows and pretzels with sprinkles.  The sprinkles were supposed to be spooky Halloween ones, but this was all that was in mom's cupboard so we made do.  They were still very tasty:


It was a fun little excursion and I'll probably end up buying that movie.  It was really good.

Fall of Festivities #3

One of my favorite authors is Agatha Christie.  My mom worked at the library and she was always bringing home books she thought her kids would enjoy, and Agatha Christie's books were always on her list.  Christie brought us the famed detective Hercule Poirot who solved Murder on the Orient Express and Death on the Nile.  Most people don't know that Agatha Christie is the best-selling author of ALL-TIME: selling over two billion books.  Only the Bible has sold more copies.
So, a few weeks ago, I got an email saying that Agatha Christie's "Mousetrap" was coming to the Covey Center for the Arts and that tickets to the preview day were $5.  So I got on the phone and told Matt to run over to the box office and pick up a couple of tickets.  I have never read "The Mousetrap" so I was excited and I knew that it would be full of creepy intrigue and exciting last minute twists (and I wasn't disappointed).
Dad dropped me off at the Mall to meet Matt.  We needed to get Jeremy some new church shoes.  On our way out we noticed the men's shoes were on sale.  Matt's church shoes have been falling apart, literally.  So he tried some on.  Nice eh?

I was wondering around waiting for Matt to finish trying on his shoes when I found some cute brown shoes and they were only $17.  See:
 
So we left the store with 3 shoe boxes and decided to grab a cheap bite to eat.  So we headed to Panda Express.  It was tasty.  We sat by the windows and enjoyed our little meal:

After dinner I wanted to run over to Sam's and get some items.  While Matt was checking out, I went and got a couple of Churros to munch on.  (and Matt did munch):
 
There was still and hour and a half before the show started so we did a little window shopping and looked at all the Halloween decorations and then it was time for the show.

We get into the theatre, find our seats, and I start to fiddle with my camera to figure out how to take pictures without the flash.  I managed a few, but they aren't very good.  Here is the stage set:

It was a great story.  Matt and I were absolutely certain who the murderer was.  We each had different theories.  During the intermission we sat and debated who the killer was and why.  It was fun. 

The murderer was revealed in the 3 minutes of the play and we were both wrong.  Christie can certainly keep an audience guessing.  Part of the play included the poem "Three Blind Mice".  The killer would hum it right before he/she killed the victim.  It was soooo creepy.  We left the theatre with chills.  We took pictures of the poster as we were leaving:

It was a perfect fall festivity.

Fall of Festivities #2

Matt still wasn't feeling 100% on Monday, so Dad had the idea of having a little fall picnic up at Devil's Kitchen.  It was nice a cool and pretty relaxing.  Rather than make a picnic I just grabbed some chicken from the grocery store and we headed up the canyon.  It was a pretty drive:

Once we got up to Devil's Kitchen we snagged a picnic table and sat around eating and talking. I was in the sun, but it was cool enough that it was perfect.  I asked Dad if I could wear his cowboy hat so I wouldn't get sun burned and Matt seized the opportunity:

After lunch, we walked (mom hobbled) over to the outlook at Devils Kitchen.  When we got there, Bailee tugged on my shirt and asked "I don't see the stove mom, where is it?" I half expected Dad to jump in and explain the rock formations history and the origin of the name, but I turned around and he was hiking down the side of the mountain with Jeremy.  We took some family pictures:




Afterward, we loaded up into our cars and headed further up the road.  We stopped at the Nebo lookout and the kids had a ball throwing rocks down the cliff.

Mom stayed in the car because her foot was hurting.  After the children decided that they had thrown sufficient rocks down into the canyon we loaded up and header further up the road to the monument.  Once we got to the monument the kids got out for a moment, but I had been in nature about 2 hours now and I was ready to go home.  So we loaded up our kids and left the rest of the family to their own devices and we headed home.  It was a nice afternoon with good food and mild temperatures.
