This Is Serious Business

Just so you know, Jeremy takes t-ball very serious. His first game was Thursday April 17. He was concentrating very hard.

He even payed attention to the batters (for about 10 seconds)

He even had his mitt on the right way, oh wait, maybe not.

Let me tell you a year sure does make a difference. Last year, his first game, all the little boys were diving on top of each other to try and get the ball to throw to first base. Jeremy was up to bat and he hit the ball. Rather than running to first base, he ran to the ball, picked it up, and threw it to first base.

This year was a little different. He no longer dived into the sea of t-ball players to get the ball, he just put his mitt on his head and danced around short-stop. As the other team's players were running to third, he would wack them upside the head and laugh. We really need to teach him some fielding skills.

Like Father, Like Son

Once upon a time, there was a little boy who did not want to go to Lagoon with his family. As his family was piling into the car to head to the fun theme park, this little boy announced that he needed to go the bathroom. After a long while, the little boy came out and hopped into the car. Pouting, he sit silent as his mother stared at him. She looked and looked and just couldn't figure out what was wrong with the way this little boy looked. Finally it dawned on her, this little boy had shaved off one of his eyebrows while he was in the bathroom. Non-plussed, Matt just sat there waiting to get to Lagoon, with one eyebrow as his form of protest.

Fast-forward 22 years and there is another story of a little boy. This little boy asked his Grandma for some cereal for lunch. Grandma was perturbed because all this little boy wants to eat is cereal, so she told him no, he needed to eat some decent food. Upset he left for a little bit (he went over to his house which is just next door), later he came back and there was just something different about him. His Grandma couldn't put her finger on it. She went about her day, weeding the garden, feeding her grandchildren. Then the little boy's mother came home from work and said, "Jeremy, did you shave your eyebrow?" Jeremy just giggled and nodded. I turn to my mom and say "Why did he shave his eyebrow?" She finally noticed and laughed.
The moral of the story: be careful what you do as a child because your future children are watching you.

Is it Spring? It must be Spring.

Well, my entire life, there has always been one event that has signaled the arrival of Spring - branding the cows. When I was a little girl, I ALWAYS helped my dad, when I turned into a mutant "teenager", I asked myself "Why am I standing around in the hot sun, smelling burnt hair? For fun? I think not." So that signaled the end of my innocent youth. Still, I always associate Spring with branding cows even though I am not up there in the thick of it.

Matt loves this time of year. He was so excited he invited his entire family up for the big event. Brandon brought his boys and Kaden to gain this "manly" experience. They all had a blast and came home with sunburned necks. Kaden even tried his hand at castrating a cow (He didn't have the stomach to finish the job) and Matt helped him finish. He did however pose for his trophy.

Well, on a more "Springy" note, we took the kids up the canyon to throw rocks into the river. It is kind of a little family tradition every year. When it is warm enough, we load 'em up and head to Red Creek. The kids love throwing rocks in the river.

We also got a great deal on a wooden picnic table out the good old Nebo Market. The kids love the umbrella and they think that they are so grown up sitting at their very own table. When I was a kid I hated sitting at the kids table, maybe they aren't old enough to realize the blatant segregation. Oh well.

A Man Has Never Been Shot While Doing the Dishes

Or in this case, making chocolate chip cookies.

Matt makes the best chocolate chip cookies ever. After having to deal with snow and cold all week, which I am still upset about by the way, I decided I needed some nice, warm, gooey, chocolate chip cookies.

So who do I turn to but my friendly, neighborhood baker - Matt. He has completely perfected the ultimate chocolate chip cookie recipe. Now all I need is some milk. Love ya Matt, thanks for the cookies.

Sad it's over, but very fun.

Another conference has come and gone, and now we look forward to October. For my kids, going to conference means getting to go swimming in an "inside lake" and going out to eat. Swimming takes up a majority of their time. They take careful planning on choosing their swim suit and swimming accesories. Here is what they chose:

Yes, I know, they certainly have style. During this trip, Jeremy decided to get brave and hold his breath and put his little head under the water. He would pop his little head out of the water and say, "Mom, I can see your toes. He was so proud that he could see underwater with his goggles. Bailee loved her goggles, but she refused to get her hair wet. Whenever Jeremy splashed her, she would squeal at her brother and say, "Choose the right Jeremy, and don't get my hair wet." Such a drama queen. She wouldn't even put her hood up because she didn't want to mess up her pretty curly hair. Isn't it a little early to be dealing with this?

The 1st Best Weekend of the Year

What Time Is It? Conference Time!!!

I love this time of year. My family makes our bi-annual pilgrimage up to Salt Lake to listen to the Prophet guide and direct us. This conference will mark something that has only happened 15 other times in the Church's history. We will get to sustain a new Prophet. There is no better place to be than Temple Square during conference. Everyone has a smile on their face and the whole atmosphere is dripping with the Spirit. You can't help but leave feeling uplifted and edified. It is the best spiritual boost you can get.

Here's wishing everyone a Happy Conference Weekend. Enjoy the warm weather, the good messages, and the time with your family.
