The Tale of the Rainy Day Delivery

Before the true tale begins, it is necessary to expound some background information. My mom is a furniture pack rat. And she LOVES getting free furniture, even if she had no intention of using it, she will still accept anything that is free. I love you mom, but you know it is true. She even had to rent a storage unit to store all of her unused furniture. So a few weeks ago the Ludlows decided to rent out one of their offices to a family friend and they had to clean said office out. There was a fairly nice cherry wood computer desk and Travis wanted me to ask my parents if they wanted it. I called my mom and knew immediately what the answer would be. The next day Sam and his son delivered that desk to mom's house and that night, Matt put it together. Mom was tired so she went to bed. The next morning she decided that it didn't really go well with the "vibe" of the room. So she told me to ask Cory and Sharon to come and look at it and see if they wanted it. Fast-forward to Saturday. Shauna was giving her ginormous entertainment center to Cory and Sharon and wanted us to bring the white truck down to Richfield when we came for the Easter party. No big deal. So the men and Matt load up the entertainment center and we head for home. It started raining when we got to Scipio and it didn't stop. On the way home I told Cory and Sharon to come and look at this computer desk my mom wants to get rid of and see if it is something that they would like. So Cory and Sharon show up and Matt is right behind them and here is how that conversation went:
Matt - "I really don't think you will want it. Remember you're not obligated to take it."
Cory and Sharon - "Ok."
This led Cory and Sharon to think that it was some dumpy trashy old thing. So they walk in and discover a nice, well taken care of desk. They look at Matt.
Matt - "Alright, it's nice, I just REALLY don't want to move it."
Sharon - "Oh, we don't need to take it today then, we can take it another day."
This is the part where I come in.
Abby - "Oh no, we can bring it up, it is totally fine." (You see, I have no problem volunteering my husband for heavy manual labor).
Suddenly, Matt shoots me a glare that says: "But I don't want to, lets just wait until another day."
Immediately I glare back as if to say: "Oh, you'll do it, and you'll be happy about it and you'll not utter one word of complaint."
Matt notices my glare and pouts his lips which means, "Fine, I'll do it, but I am mad and you better make it up to me."
So, Cory and Matt load up the computer desk along with the entertainment center (remember it is still raining), and we head up to Payson.
We get to Cory and Sharon's house and Matt and Cory begin to unload said furniture. First they get out the entertainment center. By now, Matt has reached level 7 of his I'm Mad and Don't Want To Do This Scale. He was soaked and his little muscles were tired. Cory kept asking him the best way to get the computer desk out of the truck. Matt just wanted to hurry and "get the stupid thing out." So they both grab a side and lift it out. What they didn't count on was it being top heavy, so as soon as they lifted it out of the truck, the top part falls forward and the entire thing CRASHES on the concrete. I was standing there with my mouth open trying not to laugh when Matt shoots a glare at me that says "Do you see what you made me do. This is all YOUR fault." Suddenly, I couldn't hold my laughter in any more. Cory looks at the shattered door with the hinges hanging on by a thread and starts to laugh. Matt stares at the desks and the only thing that comes out of his mouth is "Damn computer desk." I shoot a glare in his direction that says "You better keep your cool and apologize for the crankiness." Suddenly, the remorse starts to set in, and Matt apologizes to Cory for crashing his computer desk. As we were talking about it later that night. Matt and I thought it would be fun to tell the same story from both of our points of view. So to read Matt's point of view, click here.

That was exactly how it was. I was a witness. I look at my wall without now and know I made the right decision. It just did nothing for the room. Maybe that corner is meant to be empty. Who knows. Anyway, I am sorry about the desk, but I do think Cory is going to try to fix it. We'll see. Maybe there will be a continuing saga of the desk before it finally finds a home.

That's a bumber about the desk. Hopefully Cory can fix the desk. Nothing goes right in the rain.
