Disneyland Day One - Tuesday

It was a great vacation filled with fun, sun, and lots of good food.   We woke up at 4:30 in the morning to head to Anaheim.  Tuesday was the only day that it would be just our little family.  So we arrived 101_1993at our hotel, the Del Sol Inn and found that our room was ready, so we unloaded, changed our clothes and headed to Disneyland.  We went to will call to pick up our tickets and for some 101_1995reason, they couldn't find Mom's park hopper.  So I called GetAwayToday, and they informed me that the ticket was under my name.  Whew!  I was starting to stress, but it worked out.  We went through the main gates and we were FINALLY in Disneyland.  We walked down Main Street taking in all the sights  and the101_1997 smells.   We veered left and headed for Pirates of the Caribbean.  It is one of our favorite  traditions.  After our boat ride along the bayou, we decided to introduce Bailee to Splash Mountain.  She was finally tall enough to ride.  Jeremy was SO excited for her to ride it.  He kept saying, "It'll be OK Bailee I screamed the first time I rode it, so 101_1999you can scream too."  She was quite excited to be  with the family on the "big kid rides." After Splash we hit Haunted Mansion (Matt's favorite) then headed over to Big Thunder Mountain Railroad.  They actually designed this after Bryce Canyon.  btmrrThis is Bailee's new favorite ride.   The rest of the trip she kept asking to ride the fast train.  After, we headed to Buzz Lightyear.  This is such a fun  ride.  After, you can email the ride photos to your account.

I thought I emailed the scores, but I must have typed in a wrong email, because I don't have them.  Oh well, the kids had a blast.  Then we headed over to California Adventure to take Bailee on the Tower of Terror.  This one was a little too much for her and she refused to go on it the rest of trip.  101_2008
It was around 1:30 by now, and the kids were getting cranky (they were up at 4:30).  So we took them back to the hotel for a nap.  Sheridy's plane was coming in at 3, so Matt and I had to leave at 1:30 to go pick her up.  I was so excited to see them, but I was running on about 4 hours of sleep and it started to take its toll.   It has been almostlax a year since their last visit.  Stephen is the exact twin of Louis.  Every time I looked at him, I saw Louis when he was that age.  McKenzie is so tall now.  Allison and I actually became quite good friends this trip, and baby Rebekah was cute and fat.  We got everyone situated and headed for Anaheim.  We stopped at an In-N-Out burger for lunch and headed to the Tropicana.  By now, the kids were up so I had mom meet us at the hotel and all the kids could go swimming while Sheridy and I went to Albertson's to pick up some snacks for the week.  While we were shopping I got a call from Matt.  He was in charge of chaperoning the kids in the pool.  Bailee had been playing in the hot tub and decided to use her tub as a raft and fell off into the deep part of the water.  Matt had to jump in and grab her.  He was wet from the chest down.  Right when they started swimming, he had the insight to take his phone and park tickets out of his pockets at least.  So after some grocery shopping we headed back to the hotel to101_2009 change Matt's wet clothes and get ready for a night at Disneyland.  Sheridy had decided to  add a day onto her ticket so she could spend the night with us.  So the first ride we went on was Splash Mountain.  McKenzie and Stephen were a little scared, but by they time they got out of the log they were screaming, "That was totally awesome!!!"  Then we went on Haunted Mansion, Big Thunder Mountain Railroad and sauntered over to Fantasyland.  Peter Pan had a super long line, so we hopped on the Carousel.

After the Carousel, we hopped in some teacups.  Matt had his teacup going so fast, I was getting dizzy, just watching it.

When we went to Disneyland last year, It's a Small World was closed, they were doing a major refurb, and it just recently opened, so we headed over to ride the Happiest Cruise that ever sailed the world.

Every time we have gone on this ride, Matt has fallen asleep, and this time was no different.  Allison didn't know what to think of all the dolls singing the same song over and over again.

It was just after 9:00 after we got off our little cruise, and the park closed at 10:00 so we headed back down main street and back to our hotels.  We were literally asleep right when our heads hit the pillow.  It was a great first day.  Coming up . . . day 2.

I want to go back. That was such a fantastic event to have us all together and even though I was tired sometimes and a little grumpy one time, I loved every minute of it. Day one was awesome. It was fun to watch the kids expressions each time. They were in kid heaven.

Abby didn't mention why we stopped at In-N-Out...i got us turned around and almost lost. I stress the "almost" part. We need a second to get our bearings. It wasn't so bad, we got lunch out of it. :)
