Spookfest Eve!

This year for the school year, Matt and I decided to take a proactive approach to the kids behavior as opposed to reacting to all the stuff they do. So we came up with a reward system. At the end of each month if they hadn’t gotten in trouble at school we will go on a fun family outing, and last night just happened to be the last day of August. What did the kids choose to do for their reward?  Bowling.
So I called Sharon and told her we were coming up to go bowling and we met them and had dinner and headed to the lanes.  Also, since it was the eve of Spookfest 2011, what could be creepier than renting filthy old bowling shoes and braving the quarantined bathrooms?  So we got shoes on all the kids and proceeded to bowl, bowl, bowl.

I think the best part of the night was watching the little twins jump for joy when their ball would knock down any number of pins.  It was great!!  For my birthday, Verena gave me a certificate to South County Lanes:

Matt weaseled three quarters away from Sharon and went to play pool:

But first he had to sing “If I Were A Rich Man” to us.  It was a fun night, and it should be noted that ALL of the children (even the twins) beat Sharon’s score, but we won’t hold that against her, Right?

So, it wasn't my night for bowling. Yes, every single one of the beat my score. It was more fun watching them set their ball on the kid-thingy and back up clear to the wall, then run with all their might to push the ball down the lane. Loved the grins on their faces when it would knock over a pin or two. THanks for inviting us.

The fun has begun. Let the games begin. Will be a wild and crazy 2 months. Hope we all survive. Glad you had fun bowling.

I'm a fan of fun things. I like getting together and celebrating...especially Spookfest! The first few rounds were pretty slow as all the kids were getting into the groove of things, but by the end, they had it all worked out. And only a couple of finds got pinched between the bowling balls. I'd say it was a success.
