Spookfest # 6- The Good Life

A few weeks back I saw that One Republic was going to play a concert after the RSL game on September 16, so I hopped on KSL to see if I could find a good deal on some tickets. And we found some!
Jenny and Justin are HUGE One republic fans, so when I told them they were coming to Salt Lake, they found a killer deal on KSL too. So we headed up to the concert with them.

They had to stop at Walmart on their way up to pick up some diapers, so we found a way to pass the time:

Mace and Verena and Monica and Kurt were meeting us up there and we decided that we would wear our Fed Up shirts. We had lots of people ask us what we were fed up with.

We got to the Rio Tinto stadium pretty early, so we went to the tailgating party and scored some free swag:

With out tickets we got unlimited concessions, and Matt hadn’t eaten anything all day, so we wanted to go in and start partaking of the free benefit. We find our seats and discover that only certain foods were on the unlimited list.

But we managed to totally get our money’s worth. At the tailgate party, we got some free sling bags and by the end of the game we had those full of drinks for Matt to take to work. Anyway, back to the game.
Jenny and Justin were actually a little closer to the field in the section next to ours, but we found our seats:

Matt really liked the way the stadium was layed out:

Shortly after the game started, everyone else showed up. They went to get some food while we had little Jet. He was terrified of the pom-pom:

Matt was really into the game:

Number 5 was Matt’s favorite player. At half time, we went to stretch our legs a little bit:

This was the view from the club seats:

You can see the two temples in the background:

Then we went back to our seats:

an waited for the half-time festivities to subside, and the game to begin.
There was the cutest old couple in front of us who had their RSL scarves and would dance along to the music and cheer on their team. They were so cute. I tried to get a picture of them dancing, but by the time I got my camera out they were done:

RSL pulled off a 1-0 win against Sporting Kansas City. But I don’t think Kansas City was the sporting. They would tackle and slam players and kick them in the shins. Most of the 2nd half was spent with one player or another laying on the ground “wincing” in pain. But somehow, after everyone managed to make a big deal about it, they managed to get back up and finish playing.  After the game was over, they invited everyone out onto the field for the concert. Matt didn’t want to stand up so we opted to get seats closer to the field. Jenny and Justin met us on row 2:

But before we could sit, the chairs had to be disinfected :)

Then, One Republic came out onto the stage. There were awesome. They played all their popular songs and a new one from the album they were going to start recording called “Life in Color.”

Mace was REALLY enjoying himself:

And he TOTALLY didn’t care that he had a 7:00 AM meeting the next morning:

It was a little disappointing that they only played a handful of songs, but they were all awesome! Then we slowly made our way up the stands:

and to the car:

It was a really fun night, and Matt wants to go back and see more RSL games with concerts included of course! And it made it even more fun to have friends and family to share it with!!!

Oh man it was a fun time. I didn't think a MLS game would be so much fun, but it really was a good time. I recommend it. Anyone want to go with us next time?

New experiences are great for the rut of always doing the same thing. Glad you found a new that is fun.
