Warm Fuzzy Service

Driving home from conference, Matt and I were talking about what we could for Family Home Evening. President Monson's talk kept coming to mind. He said that as individuals, we would benefit more in service than in anything else. Those who serve grow and flourish. We are surrounded by those in need of help and we are the Lord's hands to help those in need. So we decided to give the kids each a jar that they could put warm and fuzzies in whenever they did service. First we talked about what President Monson had said the day before then we set out to go serve other people. Our first stop was mom's. I had told her earlier that day that we would be coming by to do some service, so we were met by a list of things mom wanted done.
Matt of course was shampooing the rugs:

Jeremy and Bailee were in charge of washing windows and scrubbing the walls:

I was in charge of scrubbing the bathroom tile and spraying the mud off the side of the house:

After we completed everything on the list, the kids gave Grandma a big hug and we were off to our second destination.

We knocked on Jenny's door and told her that we wanted to do some warm and fuzzy service. She didn't think that there was anything for us to do, but we found some things. The kids grabbed rags and started scrubbing her walls.

Zoey and Tyler were so excited, they joined in, for a little bit anyway. Matt and I grabbed the broom and mop and cleaned her floors.

When we were all finished they each gave Jenny a hug and we headed for home.

When we got home, we got out the fuzzies, the kids were so excited:

And they got to put a warm fuzzy in their jar for each act of service they did.

Once their jars are filled with warm fuzzies, we will go on a fun outing and start all over again. It was a great night and we got a lot accomplished, which is the best reward of all.

What a great Idea. I think that we will start doing something like that too. Only it might take a while to start. You have such great ideas. You are really good at pondering the things that are said. while we kind of just push them to the back of our minds. So thanks for giving me something to think about and improving. Love you

Such a good idea! I loved that talk too! Pres. Monson is such a timely prophet. How appropriate that he should be our prophet at a time that so much selfishness exists! He's exactly what this world needs to get out of this slump--if only everyone would heed. Good job on heeding and teaching your children!

It was a pretty good idea if I do say so myself. I'm sure glad that Abby decided to follow the example of others and give her the idea to do it. It was very nice and now the kids get excited to put warm fuzzies in the jar.
