This year was a little different from Valentines past. We had planned a big celebratory night. Matt had made reservations at a cozy little hotel, and dinner at one of my favorite restaurants. However, a week before the big day, we suddenly decided to go to Disneyland. We needed to save our money. Since we had already booked the hotel, I called my baby sister and asked her if she and Justin would like to have our romantic weekend and we would watch their little ones. Of course they agreed, they gave us money for the hotel and dropped off their kids. It was a very snowy day, so Matt and I decided to hunker down and watch some of our favorite Love Stories. I have narrowed them down to our top 5 all time mushy movies.
1. Fever Pitch: best love story ever. I am not a fan of Drew Barrymore, with this exception. I went into this movie thinking it was going to be the worst ever, but now it is my all-time favorite movie. If you haven't seen it, rent it. Or better yet, come borrow it from me and see how romantic the line "Let's jerk one out of the park" can really be.
2. Notting Hill: is the runner-up. The soundtrack is full of ballads and is themed perfectly to the storyline which is set in London. Julia Roberts and Hugh Grant make the perfect couple as a travel bookshop owner and an actress. The only downfall is the flatmate. All I can say is GROSS!
3. Say Anything: it is referenced in several other movies/tv shows. Who can forget Lloyd Dobler standing in the driveway with a stereo over his head. There is no dialogue. Just Lloyd holding a stereo over his head with a desperate look on his face. Classic. This movie has one of my favorite soundtracks, but the underlying theme is what makes it one of the top five. "You can say anything to me." That is, in my opinion, what true love is.
4. Forget Paris: what would be better than falling in love in Paris? This movie is filled with everything that makes a good movie. Laughter, crying, anticipation, and love. It is a feel good movie and you are rooting for the couple the entire time.
5. Casablanca: some of the most famous lines can be found in this movie. It is the foundation for every other love story ever written. Every person should see this movie at least once in their lifetime. The themes are universal and timeless. Remember, after you watch it, it might "be the start of a beautiful friendship."

We watched Taken. It was alright. I can't say it was my favorite, but it was pretty intense and I enjoyed it.
That was nice of you to take Jenny's kids for them so they could enjoy a night out. I hope they had fun.
Ah, Valentines Day and watching love stories witht the one you love. even though we were in a house packed with kids, it was very nice to just be together and enjoy each others company. No pressure, just good times.
Good movies. That is a great way to spend Valentines. I think Twilight is now my #1 love story.
