Memorial Day

A few weeks back I got it in my mind to go up and see Shoshone Falls.  Because we had a such a wet winter/spring I figured the waterfall would be HUGE!  So we decided to make the trek up there on Memorial Day.  It was an 4 and a half hour drive so we started our day EARLY, 3AM to be exact.  Once we got off the I84 we crossed a bridge so I had Matt hop out and take a picture:

Then we headed to the falls.  As we rounded a corner we saw this:

Jenny and Justin stayed up with his Grandpa on Saturday so we waited at the entrance to meet them and we took some pictures in the meantime:

The kids wanted to take some pictures too:

Once Jenny and Justin got there, we headed down in the park.  There were tiny waterfalls all over the place:

Then we headed down to the bottom.  Shoshone falls is actually taller than Niagra Falls.  It was HUGE and the winter run-off made it even bigger.  The downfall was that it was super windy so all the spray got blown all over and it was FREEZING!

The platform takes you right out and you can look all the way down.  I tried to get a picture but you can’t see the bottom because of the spray:

We were getting pretty wet, but that didn’t get our spirits down:

Then we went to an over look up a little ways, but we still managed to get some of the spray:

It was still pretty cold:

At this point everyone but Me and Matt and Mom were waiting in the cars.  It was too cold for them.  But it was still really beautiful:

We then loaded up the car and headed up the road.
Here is just before the falls:

And some houses on the other side of the river even had boat docks:

Then we started to head over to the Perrine Bridge and on our way we spotted a familiar sight:

The grounds were closed for the holiday, so we stopped outside the gates for some photos:

Then we were on our way.  Coming up…..more Twin Falls Fun!

Oh smack was that water cold. It was one of the coolest things I've ever seen though. There was a ton of water coming down the falls and it was spectacular to behold. That ravine was huge as well. I had to just look at it and take it all in for a bit. It was truly beautiful country.
