As a child I remember rushing home from school on the first day it snowed to build snowmen. I would run home, slam the kitchen door, throw my things all over and put my snowsuit on. Then I would run outside and start rolling. I never noticed the chill in my toes or my wet hair. It was pure joy to just be outside playing in the snow.
As an adult my attitude has changed a bit. When the flurries start to fly and triple layer my clothes and put two pairs of socks on so I don’t freeze. I run from my house to mom’s so my hair isn’t wet and my toes aren’t freezing. I cover my glasses so they don’t get any drops on them and I stay in the house. For most adults, snow isn’t for playing in. After work, as I was running from my house to mom’s I gave a quick glance up so I could see where I was running and saw this:
I stopped there in the middle of the yard and stared:
I walked up to the two snowmen and saw buttons for eyes, carrots for noses, and Jeremy even put his old baseball cap on his. My hair was starting to drip and my toes were freezing but I kept inspecting these snowmen.
I walked into the house and saw my two little children cuddled up by the fireplace with wet snow clothes next to them drying. They run up to me and ask me if I saw their snowmen. I smiled and looked out the window at their creations and we went home and warmed up some soup for dinner. Ahhh, to be young again.

That is so great!! I must admit that I got a little choked up when I read that. It's so wonderful to see the little creative fun things that the kids do just being kids. They were both jabbering on and on about how they made these great snowmen yesterday and how much fun they had. I think the last attempt at making a snowman I did ended up with the lowest ball of snow breaking apart as soon as I put the middle section on top of it. I'm sure it was none to lightly done, but that was it. I didn't even finish that one. It makes me happy and warms my heart to hear of their creations. They were talking about snow angels as well.
Wow you got a whole lot more snow that we did. Ours barely covered the ground.
How fun for the kids. Those are darling snowmen. I wish I had their same enthusiasm for the snow. I do like it, just don't care to play in it much.
It amazes me what kids can do with out their bodies being aware that it is cold outside. But I do have to say I hate the mess I have to clean up after they come in.
AHHH the snow! I am a little snow-woman. I LOOOVVVVEEE the snow. It was a bit early for me this year, but I enjoy it. I enjoy bundling up and cuddling under a blanket and watching my favorite shows! Good for the kids to get into the snow!! I love it! They are cute!
I do remember all those days you came racing home for the snow, what good memories for me. Bailee has played in the snow for 2 days now. Yesterday it was so cute because of the the kids Rachel, Kyle, Megan, Tyler, Zoey, Jeremey and Bailee found snow stuff out of the kitchen box and out they went. Later when it was night I saw 7 pairs of snow boots all lined up in a row. It made my heart full with gladness that I am blessed with so many grandchildren who love the snow and help us remember when we were that age. Kyle even put his coat on and at about 7:00 and wanted to play no bears are out tonight, he said all he needed was a flashlight. Now that boy is a real enthusiast.
Oh what would the snow be like without kids. They are cute snowmen. I started to cry a bit remembering what it was like as a child. What cute kids. I wish it had snowed a little bit more so they could really get down and dirty. It is awesome to see their enthusiasm. If only I had it.
