Disneyland Day One part One

Sunday after church we headed down to Barstow.  Since they park wasn’t busy, it didn’t open until 9 so we got to sleep in and have some breakfast.  We made it to Anaheim just as they were letting people through security.  Linsey had come down Sunday morning and was already waiting in line.  Once we caught up to her, she informed us that we were the family that was chosen to open the park.

It was nice and warm, a perfect break from the chilly weather in Utah.  After the park opened, we headed to our traditional first ride……Pirates.

We skipped over Haunted Mansion and went on Splash Mountain.  Matt and I had the girls and the others took the boys:

The rest of the group headed to Indiana Jones, while Mom and Dad and myself stayed out with the little ones.  Megan saw Jasmine’s Oasis, and she begged to go, so she got to meet Jasmine.

After a quick bathroom break we headed over to Big Thunder Mountain Railroad.  After the holidays it is going to be shut down for a major refurb, so we wanted to ride it as much as we could.  With Ray now in a wheelchair, our Disneyland experience was quite different.  We were always looking for accessible entrances.  We had to go through the exit at BTMRR.

The kids wanted to go see Santa and all the reindeer at:

So the kids played the Reindeer games, saw santa and a few characters while Dad, Matt, Jeremy, and Ray sat and enjoyed the Billy Hillbillies, with a few surprise guests.

As we looked at the clock it was almost time for Jedi Training Academy.  We the group headed over to the Tommorrowland Terrace while I ran and got a few FastPasses.  When we went last with Linsey and Ray, Kyle would jump up and down, but never got chosen, today was the same.  I think because of Jeremy’s freakishly loud orange shirt he got chosen:

After the training academy, we needed to get our pictures taken for our annual passes, and Linsey and ray needed to get a guest assitance card since our group was so big.  So we split off.  We headed to the entrance where the photopass photographers are.  After our picture, we got a quick picture in front of the floral Mickey.

Then we headed towards California Adventure to meet up with our group.  Coming up……Megan begs to go on Tower of Terror.

Oh man! It was so great! Mid 70's degree weather. The best part is that we left Nephi while it was snowing and storming and went to the beauty of Southern California. It was so much fun. The first day is always the most exciting. It's like meeting a good friend you haven't seen for a long time.

I agree with Matt. I have always wanted to be the family that opened the park. That was awesome.
