Saturday Matt woke up early and headed to the Temple Groundbreaking site to save Jeremy and I a seat. It was an amazing morning even though it was raining. We got pretty good seats:
Mom and Dad got to sit up front:
Matt and Jeremy walked around to kill some time before it started.
As soon as the ceremony began the rain stopped. Elder Oaks spoke about standing in Holy Places and that when the ground was dedicated it would be a Holy Place.
After the prayer, Elder Oaks instructed the details of the groundbreaking.
They let the Stake Presidents in the area come up:
After the ceremony was over, they invited everyone up to shovel some dirt:
They even let the Stake Presidents keep one of the shovels. It was a wonderful morning and I am so excited for a new temple.

Wow that is so cool. I am surprised they let the stake presidents keep one of the shovels. What a cool experience. I can't wait to see what the temple looks like. We will have to come up for the open house. Glad you had a good experience.
This was an incredible experience, one that not every stake president gets to have. It was awesome.
It was so enjoyable. It was soo neat to be able to see dad up there breaking the ground and then Oaks even being there. I'm so glad that I had the chance to witness it!
First of all: Elder Oaks is one of my favorites. Secondly, I have to admid that I wasn't very excited about changing temple districts. Manti has always had a very special place in my heart. But this ceremony changed my attitude. I'm now looking forward to going to Payson to serve in the Temple. It was rainy and cold, but oh so worth it. Even with the ornery lady behind me who kept shooting daggers my way.
So cool that you got to be there and witness such an awesome event. It was even awesome watching it at the Stake Center. Can't wait now for construction to get under way and to be able to attend this temple.
