“Promise me you'll never forget me because if I thought you would I'd never leave.” - Winnie the Pooh
Last week was Cindy’s funeral. We left early Tuesday and headed straight for the funeral home so that we could be alone with her for a few moments.
Even though we tried to prepare Jeremy and Bailee as best as we could, it was still quite hard to see her.
Matt wanted some time alone so I took the kids over the Max’s house to play with their cousins, and then I brought Max back with me to pick up Matt.
Then we dropped Max off and went to check-in to our motel and of course the kids wanted to go swimming. They even made up their own dives. This one is called “the Bailee Stick”:
This one is called “the Jeremy Dog”:
The best part of “the Jeremy Dog” is him shaking off the water once he gets out:
And they both mastered the cannonball:
It was Isaac and Benjamin’s birthday today, so after a quick dip we headed over to Max’s house for birthday cake. The twins were very excited about it. Then we headed back to the hotel to get ready for the viewing that night. While we were getting ready I took the kids aside and talked to them about supporting their daddy and being there for him. So they sat with me on the couch throughout the evening so that when their dad looked over he could see them there. There were so many beautiful flowers:
These were the flowers Matt’s work gave. They were beautiful. So different memories of Cindy and her talents were spread throughout the room:
The next morning we were up and over at the chapel before anyone else. Jeremy had held a brave face, but by now, he was starting to have a hard time:
Once Cory and Sharon got there we took some family photos and ushered the kids into the other room to practice the song they would sing at the services. The funeral services were a sincere testament to a mother who adored her children and mostly her grandchildren. Matt gave a beautiful tribute about all the different ways Cindy taught him the gospel. After the services we headed out to Junction to say our final (albeit temporary) goodbye.

Brandon gave a sweet prayer and we were on our way back to the church for a quick luncheon. As everyone was leaving Matt wanted some pictures with his remaining family:
And then he wanted some with his dad and we tried to get a fairly decent picture of Max:
We went over to Max’s for a while and then we were on our way back home. On the way home we talked about Grandma Cindy and tried to imagine what she was doing now and who she was with. We concluded that although Cindy’s Swan Song was a tough fight with Cancer, we know that she has overcome her mortal body and is now doing what she does best – teaching the Gospel. We love you Cindy!!
“Goodbyes are not forever.
Goodbyes are not the end.
They simply mean I'll miss you
Until we meet again!”
