The Summer of Movies 2008

The summer of Movies, 2008 is officially in full swing.  What is the summer of movies you ask?  Well, the summer of movies is a full frontal assault on any and all movies we feel like watching at any particular moment.  So far, we have conquered:

Iron Man: excellent movie, saw it twice.  Oh man is Robert Downey Jr. Ultra Platinum Hot. Ironman

Prince Caspian: It was a little scary for Bailee but the story and special effects were phenomenal.

(l to r) GEORGIE HENLEY, WILLIAM MOSELY, BEN BARNES, ANNA POPPLEWELL, SKANDAR KEYNES

Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull:  The plot was a little weird but Shia Lebouf is exceptional in his role as Indy's son.

Indiana

Kung-Fu Panda:  It is heart-warming and great for all ages.  The only problem was Jeremy and Bailee were wandering around saying:  "Skeedoosh."  You'd have to see it to understand.

Kung Fu panda

The Incredible Hulk:  this was one that Matt wanted to go see.  I went to the first one and was less than impressed.  However, Edward Norton rules as Bruce Banner and Liv Tyler is excellent as Betty Ross, ya gotta give it another shot.

Now we didn't just head to the theatre, we dragged the mattresses, blankets and pillows and watched movies on the side of mom's house.

Plus, to add to the night, we got those little kid's meal trays and loaded them up with pink popcorn, M&M's and a drink of our choice.

So far we have watched:

In the Land of Women:  I wanted to see this because I love Adam Brody.  It was a very deep movie, not for younger viewers.

Tootsie:  For those of you who don't appreciate the classics, it's like Mrs. Doubtfire only WAY funnier.  Gotta love Dustin Hoffman.

Gone With The Wind:  A classic, a must-see anytime, anywhere movie.  I know there are a lot of you out there that haven't seen it.  Shame on you.  It's the best.  Yes, it is LONG.  4 hours does take out a huge chunk of your day but "Frankly my dear, I don't give a damn."  Love it!!!

So that about wraps up the first month of the summer of movies.  I always say, if you are going to do something, do it the very best you can.  Plus it is a great escape from the heat and doldrums of everyday life.  I love the movies, and not in a Mira Farrow, Purple Rose of Cairo, Kind of way.  So if anybody is in town- stop on by and join in the summer of movies 2008.

I love the outdoor movie thing. You are way fun, Abby. Too bad we don't live closer. I need to take 'fun' lessons from you.
I love Gone With the Wind. It's been a long time. Maybe it's time to watch it again.

Listen, it's a lot of movies, but i somehow feel that i'm more educated in the art of theatre. I invite any and all who are in the area to join us...for the summer of movies 2008!!!! (Epic music playing in the back with and echoing voice for emphasis)

Dang woman! You have seen a lot of movies already!

Here are the 2 I have seen at the theater:
Indiana (loved it) and... Not sure I should say this one as your dad is my SP... but I better as it will be part of my repentance. You know that part where you help everyone
else to not make the same mistake.

Well it is all Rob's fault really. We NEVER go see R rated movies at the theater, we usually wait until they come on DVD and then we use the clearplay to watch ones we really wanted to see. The Happening one was one we really wanted to see because it was the guy who did 6th sense and they are usually not too bad.

So Rob looked it up on kids in mind and decided it wasn't too bad. I should have looked because my judgment is keener than his and I would have said NOOOO. But that did not happen so...despite the less-than-3-star rating, we went to see it. I have never been so mad at a movie experience as that one. Stop reading here if you do not want it ruined for you as I am about to.

Chapter 56
There were people committing suicide in gruesome ways though the whole movie ( I mean through the whole movie!)and the characters were basically running away from all the trees that were putting out toxic poisons because the trees were mad at us humans for treating the earth so poorly. It. was. awful! I have been scared of the trees ever since.
So the end.

When did you say your next movie on the house was?
