A Tablecloth

This month my heart has been full of Thanksgiving.  Don't get me wrong.  I'm still slowing putting up all my Christmas Decorations, but I realize how thankful I am for all my blessings.  So, for Thanksgiving this year, my family is making a Thankful tablecloth.  Everyone in the family is given a square, and they either sew or color something that they are grateful for.

When I came up with this idea, I realized that mom and Jenny would probably have to do most of the work on it, because I don't know how to sew, I don't like fabric, and I'm not that creative when it comes to material.  So they got the material and pieced it out.  I sent squares to family that was far away and I started to think about what I was most thankful for.  It was hard to narrow it down to just one thing.  Finally, I decided that I am most thankful for Temples.  It is where families become forever.  I love my family, but if we weren't together forever, then what is the point?  Temples make everything possible.  All roads lead to the temple.  So I found a picture of a temple.  Jenny traced it onto my fabric square and then she came over to show me how to stitch.

Yes, I know it is shocking, I've never sewn or stitched anything.  I'll tell you this now, but I will deny vehemently if it is ever brought up in public, but one Sunday the hem of my skirt was coming undone so I stapled it.  Yup, I don't sew.

So then I began the long arduous task of stitching the Manti Temple.  8 hours later I finished.  Here is the end result:

Pretty cute eh?  I'm excited to see what everyone comes up with.  Jeremy, Bailee, and Matt have picked what they are going to do on their squares.  Once the tablecloth is all finished I'll show what everyone decided.

I love the holidays.  Almost every holiday.  Thanksgiving is a reason to celebrate.  And this Thanksgiving will be the best yet.

Very cute abby. Make sure you guys buy a clear plastic table cloth to put over it so that it won't get dirty. You'll find it in the fabric section of walmart and a big long roll and it is really cheap. I don't think that it will cost you more then $4 for 3 yards. We'll be looking for our squares to come in the mail tomorrow.

I was a little dubious at first but this has been a great experience.
The kid had such fun doing their suquares today. It was great to have us all gathered around the desk working on our squares. Jenny \truly has put the most work in. She has traced all the squares and worked hard for 2 days to make sure we can do this. Thnaks a buch Jenny. Love you all this is going to be spectacular.

I'm doing family history. It's great. It gives me a deeper apprciation and understanding of my forebearers. I highly recommend it.

I love it! You are more talented and crafty than you will admit! As for the staple... If it makes you feel any better, I've used a paperclip. I don't sew either.
