Day 18 – The Best Girls

I love my calling.  It is a lot of work, but it is WAY more rewarding.  These are some of my Beehives:
 
They are so sweet.  We have THE BEST young women ever.  They are sweet,  kind, loving, and have a true desire to gain a testimony of the Savior.  I love my young women and I am so glad that I am able to get to know these lovely ladies.

Day 19 - The Teen Years

The Teen Years - what to say.  To start off, here were my friends:

 
We had a lot of fun.  And got into a little trouble every now and then.  I didn't have a whole lot of restrictions in high school.  My parents never gave me a curfew.  I imagine it was because my friends were always home by midnight and so was I, so they never felt the need to give me a curfew.  I learned to forge my mom's signature to excuse me whenever we cut school, but I always told her when I got home.  I never let my grades slip.  We were all really good kids. School was a breeze and I even graduated with a 4.0 GPA.  And I when I went to college I was already a sophomore because of all the college classes I took.
 
So that's the teen years in a nutshell.

Day 20 - Completely Blank

I've been trying for 20 minutes to come up with something to say and I am drawing a complete blank.  Maybe its because its Friday and I want to go home to my kids, or maybe because its raining and overcast and depressing outside.  But the fact is I'm blank.  So here are some useless facts for your reading pleasure:
1.  The sentence "The quick brown fox jumps over the lazy dog" uses every letter in the English language.

3.  A rhinoceros horn is made of compacted hair.

Day 21 - Scout

Growing up, my mom worked at the library part-time.  She would send us to school and work a couple hours at the library and then be home when we got home from school.  Because of this, we ALWAYS had books in our home.  Louis and I were always reading.  Books were all over our house:  Newberry winners, Nancy drew, hardy boys, boxcar children, and even the classics like Swiss Family Robinson, Huckleberry Finn, and Tale of Two Cities.  
My all-time favorite book however is:

"To Kill A Mockingbird."  I think the biggest reason was because I related to Scout so much.  I was such a tomboy when I was little.  I was smart, frank and curious - just like Scout. 

I would close my eyes and imagine that I was walking to school with Scout.  I carved a hole in our tree to put treasures in just like Boo Radley did in sleepy old Maycomb Countay, Alabama.   It is a great book, not just for young day-dreaming readers, but adults and anyone who loves a solid story with a timeless message webbed into each delightful page.  It is truly dear to my heart.

Day 22 - The Team

Some people that I know LOVED high school, it was their glory days and they would love to go back and do it all over again.  Whenever I hear something like that I cringe.  Yuck.  I would NEVER go back to high school.  It was so awkward and annoying.  There was one thing that I enjoyed about my high school years - basketball.  It was fun.  I wasn't the best player on the team, but I had fun.

I'm #12, because of my birthday (not because it was John Stockton's number).  It was a blast, and our team was super good.

I was a guard (because I'm so short), and the way our coach described me was as follows:  "She's not the fastest player on the team, but she anticipates."  Hey, I'll take any compliment I can get.

Look at Holly!  She had long hair.  We had some really good times.

And we even won most of our games.  We were region champs.  We got to cut down the nets after the game:

So although, I would never in my life go back to high school, I can look back at basketball and smile because of all the great times we had!
