The Summer of 7 Peaks

In March a friend posted about a killer deal for the Pass of all Passes, you can’t beat $10, so for the entire summer, every Monday, we headed up to 7 peaks. 

We got into a pretty good rhythm as the summer went on.  It was nice to get out and let the kids run and play:

School starts next week, the summer is winding down, and even with my crazy new schedule, we still managed to have a little fun!

Defying Gravity

Wednesday we finally saw Wicked!!!  It was wonderful.  I arranged my schedule so I would have the evening off and we headed up to Salt Lake.  We first had to drop the kids off at Jenny’s new place.  Then we headed to dinner at Red Lobster:

After our dinner, we headed to the Capitol Theatre:

We were early so we took some photos:

We were trying to be like the photo, but I couldn’t keep a straight face because of WHAT Matt was whispering in my ear.
Once we got in the theatre, Mom wanted to buy a Wicked umbrella and I had to get my magnet.  I was very excited:

Then it began.  Oh my, the music was wonderful.  My favorite was Defying Gravity.  It was breathtaking.  Elphaba was fantastic!!  During intermission we snuck another photo:

But then were told to the put the camera away.  The only disappointment was the finale.  I thought there were a lot more powerful numbers throughout the performance, but the finale was only so-so.  It was still amazing though.  As soon as it was over we hurried out to make the drive to pick up the kids and head home.  We pulled in the driveway about 1 o’clock totally beat, but also totally worth it.

Day Camp

Today was the Jeremiah Johnson Day Camp.  Jeremy loved it!!  We started with flag ceremony

Then we headed over to make our handcart craft at the Westward Ho! station:

Then we headed over to Archery Adventures and learned how to shoot a bow and arrow:

Next we had a Shoot Out and OK Corral, complete with BB Guns:

Next they grabbed a Pioneer Handcart and pushed it up, up, up the trail (and back down again):

Then we headed over the Mountain Man Rendezvous:

After a quick lunch break we headed up to Huck Finn’s Hide Out and launched some rocks with slingshots:

and we learned the do’s and don’ts of a flag ceremony:

Finally we headed over to Lasso’s Lair to make some rope and pan for gold:

Jeremy had a blast and earned all the beads and got a pocketknife from the trading post.  It got pretty hot during the latter part of the day, but the boys had fun!!

Father and Sons

Jeremy and Matt had their annual Father and Son outing this past May.  Matt was insistant on taking a tent and staying the night.  They dragged up the canyon for the evening program, but he went home with David Leavitt.  They had a blast.  Jeremy loved the tent:

Matt got a fire going and started cooking dinner.

They had a fun night and I am so glad they got to spend it together.
